This project was created for a non-profit organization; The Southeast New England Heart Safe Community Foundation. Their goal was to create a website to educate the Rhode Island community of the need for AED's (Automatic External Defibrillators) in schools and public areas. The site was built using Macromedia ColdFusion supported by a MySql database backend. A custom built content management system (CMS) allows members of the Foundation to create, update, and delete content on many sections of the site without any changes to the code. The interface uses FckEditor to create content with formatting capabilities similar to most common word processing programs. The users also have the ability to upload images and PDF format documents to customize their content.
One of the most important areas of the site is the AED tracking tool. This is used to organize AED and CPR information for each of the organizations. This tool keeps track of AED's and their battery expirations, as well as those trained to use the devices and their CPR courses and expiration dates. The interface is user friendly and allows administrators to easily search, edit, and create reports for each organization.
